Lose Weight by Eating Breakfast and Drinking Milk

August 31, 2008 · Posted in Earing Healthy · Comment

Did you know that dieting and weight loss are two of the most common resolutions or goals by many people but usually results to failure? Don’t give up yet. Stay committed and read through.

If you really want to lose weight, forget the fad diets and eat breakfast and drink milk. Starting each day with milk and cereal may be the success for achieving a healthy weight.

Many people don’t realize to eat breakfast but to skip entire morning tastes, either because you’re in rush or lazy, or just want to reduce weight. Considerable number of people finish with a soft drink or a cup of coffee as their morning meal. Chances are this is going to have an opposite effect on you because skipping meals almost always leads to overeating at lunchtime. This is especially true with breakfast, because you’ve just been asleep for 7 or 8 hours and your body needs to recover from this brief period of starvation.

Studies show that people who regularly eat breakfast, particularly cereal with low fat or fat-free milk, tend to be leaner compared to those who skip the morning meal or eat other options. Also, breakfast eaters are more likely to have long-term success in maintaining a reasonable weight. There is a finding that a cereal and milk breakfast is a habit common to successful weight loss maintainers.

Combine that with studies drinking 24 ounces of milk a day with healthy weight loss, and you’ve got a strategy that may lead to lost pounds. Multiple studies have shown that people who drink milk and get adequate amounts of calcium in their diets tend to weigh less than their peers who don’t drink milk. A diet deficient in calcium has a higher risk for being overweight.

Weight Control by Eating Eggs

Eating eggs for breakfast can reduce hunger and caloric intake by more than 400 calories, both at lunchtime and over the next 24 hours. As a result, eggs are useful in helping overweight people reduce their energy intakes, a prerequisite of losing weight. This is great news if you’re trying to lose weight as it means you may find it easier to cut calories without feeling hungry. In fact, you could expect to lose up to 2lb. a month, simply by eating eggs for breakfast!

Eggs are packed with various nutrients but contain just 85 calories each. There’s also no limit to the number of eggs you can eat in a week contrary to popular belief.

Other studies found that protein-based breakfasts improved weight loss better than carbohydrate-focused breakfasts. The better effects are increased when it’s combined with exercise.

Should I avoid eating certain foods for the sake of weight loss?

Forget about avoiding eating a certain food that you like to eat – that’s a dieter’s mentality and it doesn’t help you lose weight. It just makes you obsessed about food and eating. Instead, if you are really hungry, then eat, and stop as soon as you’re satisfied. Just don’t eat until you’re totally full! So, if you’re hungry during breakfast, then eat. If you’re not hungry during lunch or dinner, then have a smaller meal.

Keep in mind that you should not eat too many sweet foods. No matter what time you eat sweets, if it’s more energy than your body can use, it will be stored, meaning excess kilos.

Fad diets won’t work and only provide short-term results. Instead, always enjoy a wide variety of healthy foods and be physically active. Fad dieting is a hindrance that you don’t need in your life.

Things to Remember:

* Eating breakfast increases your metabolism and burns more kilojoules during the day, which can help you lose weight.
* Protein-based breakfasts improved weight loss better than carbohydrate-focused breakfasts.
* Eggs are great protein-rich breakfast, complete with zinc, iron and vitamins like A, B, D, E and B12. Long ago, people thought that eating many eggs contributed to health risks. This is not true and it’s already proven that they don’t contribute to high cholesterol or heart disease.
* Don’t be afraid to eat a reasonable portion of your favorite dessert or snack food every now and then.
* Try to eat steamed vegetables and drink soup in the morning. Did you know that this is common in Japan? It may take some time getting used to, but the benefits are: reduced fat and added nutrients from the vegetables.

Do You Want Your Children to Be Like You

August 30, 2008 · Posted in Childrens Health · Comment

There is an old saying regarding children: “Do as I say, not as I do.”
Whoever coined this phrase didn’t know much about children. Children
often do not “do as we say.” We are the role models regarding how our
children learn to treat themselves and others. We are the role models
regarding whether or not our children learn to take personal
responsibility for themselves – physically, emotionally, financially,
relationally, spiritually, and organizationally.

Do you avoid responsibility for your own feelings with substances,
activities, or with shaming and blaming behavior toward yourself or
others? Are you always late and is your desk a mess? Do you eat poorly
and lack exercise? Are you always in major credit card debt? Do you
lack a relationship with a spiritual source of love and guidance?

If you want your children to be on time, then you need to be on time. If
you want your children to be healthy and fit, then you need to be healthy
and fit. If you want your children to be honest, then you need to be
honest. If you want to raise happy and peaceful children, then you need
to role model how to be happy and peaceful. If you want your children to
have high self-esteem, then you need to learn to treat yourself and them
with kindness and caring. If you treat your children with caring and
respect, but your children experience you shaming yourself and treating
yourself as if your feelings and needs are not important, there is a good
chance they will learn to disrespect themselves as well.

For example, Martin grew up in a family where both of his parents were
high achievers and made tons of money. But his mother was a highly
judgmental woman and his father was always unhappy and worried
about something. Is it any surprise that Martin does well financially, yet
is constantly judging himself and others and is often agitated over minor
things?

Angie grew up with a mother who was totally devoted to her. In Angie’s
mind, her mother was the ideal mother – kind, compassionate, and
always ready to listen to Angie and help her with her problems. Her
hardworking father was also a kind and caring person. Yet Angie has a
hard time taking loving care of herself. She ignores responsibility for her
own feelings, does not feed herself well, is often judgmental toward
herself, and has a hard time getting things done. She is constantly
seeking out a man to fill her up and make her feel worthy. How did this
happen with such loving parents?

While Angie’s parents were loving to her, they were not loving to
themselves. Angie’s mother used food to avoid her feelings, and was
always giving herself up to please others. In addition, she could never
quite get organized and was always late. Angie’s father spent his life
working hard and using the TV to avoid his feelings. Neither of Angie’s
parents role modeled personal responsibility for their physical and
emotional health. Angie was shaped far more by how they treated
themselves than how they treated her. In fact, because they treated her
so lovingly and treated themselves so unlovingly, Angie grew up
believing that it was others’ responsibility to love her and fill her, rather
than her own responsibility. She grew up being needy and demanding,
rather than personally responsible.

Do you want your children to be like you? As a parent, it is very
important to take a look at what you are role modeling for your children –
not only regarding how you treat others, but how you treat yourself. If
there are certain values that you want your children to have when they
grow up, they are far more likely to have your values if they deeply
respect you. And they will not respect you if you do not treat yourself with
respect. It is highly important, if you want your children to be happy,
healthy, and personally responsible, to be a role model of happiness,
health and personal responsibility.

Healthy Aging – The Clean-Meat Connection

August 29, 2008 · Posted in Healthy Aging · Comment

It is shocking how many people are not taking advantage of the lessons from 21st Century research on cellular health. The syntax of disease is known by many researchers; and many of them are telling you what you can do to protect yourself. They wonder why so many still choose to age and ultimately die prematurely.

Throughout human history, infectious disease was the leading cause of death. By the 20th Century, non-infectious ailments like heart attacks, strokes and cardio-vascular disease along with cancer replaced it as the leading cause. Furthermore, this occurred among the industrial nations, despite greater wealth, better housing and so-called, better nutrition.

So, whether you live longer and healthier than your parents just may depend, not on your monetary wealth or your medical insurance card, but on how well you know and react to the mechanisms of disease in the modern world.

While the message of ancient wisdom has also spoken clear enough, leaving us clues for the last 6,000 years of mankind’s history, our modern world has equally spoken. In a world that has the greatest scientific research available, men, women and children still die prematurely. Why? Is there a root cause for this effect?

To find the answer, just compare how many people suffer from disease and early death, while others live long full lives in radiant health. Why does John, an 89 year old man, who smoked cigars and drank a shot of whiskey every night before he went to bed still live, while Josephine, a tea drinker who never smoked, died of cancer at the tender age of 51?

How can that be? The answer must be there for all to see. Your metabolism must be unique; and, therefore, requires a unique set of solutions to maintain better health, stamina and longevity; meaning, one-size health care strategies does NOT fit all needs, except for one: The health strategy that is tailored to you and your metabolism. And that is one of the principle beliefs of healthy agers!

For some, that may be as simple as finding the right combination of nutrients that your body may be lacking. For others, it may mean undoing some habits that may be OK for your neighbor, but not for you!

These solutions, 21st Century style, are available in what I call, “Personal Longevity Technologies.” in direct obedience to the original, natural laws designed to protect mankind. Unfortunately, religion and science have not always agreed, haven’t they? And mankind has suffered many consequences as a result.

In fact, it was written in the bible many years ago, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge, because they have rejected knowledge.” Please, don’t let that be you!

For sure, there is a wealth of knowledge about healthy living that is thoroughly backed by sound scientific research. And you can have access to this wealthy information to begin your very own wellness program! That’s right. You can devise your very own, tailored wellness program based on “Personal Longevity Technologies” and the knowledge of cellular health research.

And nobody is saying you should quit seeing your doctor either. Simply be more informed so you can help your doctor help you. You would be surprised how some doctors appreciate patients who take a concerted interest in their own health. When you feel good, they look good; but we won’t tell them, will we? It’s your personal wellness program at work!

For the record, I have spent multiple years searching for links in multiple research papers that provide information not found in your average health magazine. For example: Did you know that not all meat is fit for human consumption? Do you know what they are? Did you know that you can feed your body with the building blocks of collagen so your arteries won’t harden? What are they? And what combination of vitamins assist your body in its processing?

Unfortunately, on average you won’t find answers to those kind of questions talking to your doctor! Why? He or she won’t take the time. Furthermore, doctors primarily follow what the pharmaceutical companies promote to them, never questioning the ultimate validity of the research. That’s why awakening your body and mind to healthy aging is so valuable to you and the state of your longevity.

Choose the Cleaner Human Food Chain

It is amazing with all of the higher education available that many do not understand that the human food chain does NOT include everything that flies, crawls, swims and wiggles.

Putting organized religion aside for the moment, ancient writings like the Bible and the Koran agree on what defines food fit for human consumption, and what is defined as unfit for human consumption.

In reality, those animals fit for human consumption by nature eat grain, grass and roots. In other words, the animals are vegetarean. Their metabolisms are, therefore, designed differently than scavenger animals. If they were to eat like a scavenger, they surely would die of disease, just like those mad cows that ate cannibalized animal feed.

That means that scavenger animals like buzzards, snakes, crabs, lobsters, clams, mussels and pigs have metabolisms for being environmental cleaners. That is their created purpose.

When you eat a scavenger animal, you are actually partaking of THEIR food chain, including decaying, dead animals. That means that you are introducing into YOUR system much of the cells, bacteria and viruses common to THEIR food chain.

Some question rightly if there is a connection with the stress of the modern lifestyle with an unclean diet. While stress reduces the immune system, the unclean foods have
the ability to feed on the human host with its micro-organisms, thus compromising the human immune system’s ability to fight off disease.

While it’s true that modern forms of farming often break natural laws by forcing the land have a reduction in elements that are vital to human health, eating “clean” foods’ will certainly support your immune system.
